With Valentine's Day swiftly approaching, many are wondering fair what to get that special someone this year. For the wine enthusiast, consider creating one of these gorgeous wine label Valentines.
For this project, you will need:
- 1/4 inch thick crafting wood (available at craft supply stores)
- Five inch heart shaped stencil
- Pencil
- Jigsaw or other tool used to cut crafting wood
- Medium grit sandpaper
- Tack cloth or other soft cloth
- Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White
- Krylon Make It Suede Textured Paint in Bordeaux
- Krylon Crystal Distinct Acrylic Finishing Spray
- Several different wine labels
- Burgundy colored cardstock
- Decorative edge scissors
- Ruler
- Self healing mat
- Craft knife
- Sponge brush
- Mod Podge or other decoupage medium
- Gold gel ink pen
- Newspaper or expansive drop cloth
Cover your work area with a few sheets of newspaper or a large drop cloth. Place a sheet of 1/4 promenade thick crafting wood flat on your workspace. In pencil, trace a five lunge heart shape onto the wood. Cut out the design with a jigsaw or other tool used for cutting craft wood. Gently sand the wooden heart with medium grit sandpaper. Use a tack cloth or other soft cloth to wipe away any dust on the shape.
Set the heart shape flat on your work area. Spray the top of the wood with Krylon Indoor Outdoor Primer in All-Purpose White. Let the wood dry for two hours before flipping the heart shape over and repeating the process on the backside. Paint the front of the heart shape with Krylon Make It Suede Textured Paint in Bordeaux. Dry for three to four hours before turning over and repeating the process on the backside. Let the heart shape dry overnight before proceeding.
Set several wine labels flat on a self healing mat. Reduce several with a craft knife so that they are in a heart shape that is 1/2 perambulate smaller around than the wooden heart. In addition, use decorative edge scissors to cut out a heart shape from burgundy colored cardstock that is one 1/2 inch smaller around than the wooden heart shape.
Apply a agreeable amount of Mod Podge or other decoupage medium to the wooden heart with a sponge brush. Adhere the wine labels onto the heart shape. Dry completely. On the other side of the heart, apply more glue and adhere the cardstock. Once the glue is dry, spray the entire project with Krylon Crystal Clear Acrylic Finishing Spray. Dry overnight before adding a Valentine's Day message with a gold gel ink pen.
